May God bless and heal us all.
IF this report is true, it substantiates the assertion in my post of 12/18/12, "That-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named", by a retired FBI-profiler at the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, Mary Ellen O'Toole, that the attack at Newtown was not the result of mental illness or "someone just snapping." On the contrary, O'Toole notes that Adam Lanza "showed a high measure of control" and "planned the attack for maximum lethality."
An article published today in the New York Daily News states that Lanza developed an intricate spreadsheet of data on past mass shootings that included details on the number of victims and the weapons used. Apparently, he approached the event much like a video/arcade game player who wanted to rack up the most points and write his name at the top of the list. His careful research led him to choose the target and the weapons he used, again seeking 'maximum lethality'--game points. He was, in fact, more than just some pathetic deranged teenager: he was a "Glory Killer."
Let me go on record now: if this report is accurate, we learn two major lessons. First, gun control laws would not have prevented this tragedy. Connecticut already has extremely strict state-level gun laws similar to what Obama and Feinstein propose. Secondly, evil is real. This tragedy didn't happen because of mental illness. Our culture is an accessory to this crime, not because our culture is evil, but because our culture ignores and denies that real evil exists. To not be prepared for evil is willful negligence. Having an armed administrator or custodian on campus would have produced a different ending to this story.
Many questions remain to be answered about what exactly happened that day at Sandy Hook,
regardless of the accuracy of this report. Read this chilling article here.
Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.
