Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks: Atheism Has Failed. Only Religion Can Defeat the New Barbarians

Via CERC (Catholic Education Resource Center):

"The West is suffering for its loss of faith.  Unless we rediscover religion, our civilization in in peril...
"It is just that, in the words of historian Will Durant, 'There is no significant example in history, before our time, of a society successfully maintaining moral life without the aid of religion'...
"In one respect the new atheists are right.  The threat to Western freedom in the twenty-first century is not from fascism or communism but from a religious fundamentalism combining hatred of the other, the pursuit of power and contempt for human rights.  But the idea that this can be defeated by individualism and relativism is naive almost beyond belief."

Illiterate, Rambling Defense Witness Rachel Jeantel is a Victim of Brain-Damaging Mass Fluoridation, Vaccines and Nutrient-Depleted Foods

poisonFrom  Mike Adams at Natural News:
Watching defense witness Rachel Jeantel testify in the Trayvon Martin trial was horrifying, shocking... disturbing. Here is a 19-year-old high school senior, raised in America and educated in public schools, who is wildly illiterate (she simply cannot read) and who seems unable to speak in coherent sentences. Almost right out of the movie Idiocracy, she makes odd grunting noises and seems to display wild emotional swings, verbal inconsistencies and irrational behavior. See a video of her testimony [in the article].

A Tragic Day for Marriage and Our Nation

From the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops:
WASHINGTON—The U.S. Supreme Court decisions June 26 striking down part of the Defense of Marriage Act and refusing to rule on the merits of a challenge to California’s Proposition 8 mark a “tragic day for marriage and our nation,” said Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, chair of the U.S. bishops’ Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage.
     The statement follows.
“Today is a tragic day for marriage and our nation. The Supreme Court has dealt a profound injustice to the American people by striking down in part the federal Defense of Marriage Act. The Court got it wrong. The federal government ought to respect the truth that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, even where states fail to do so. The preservation of liberty and justice requires that all laws, federal and state, respect the truth, including the truth about marriage. It is also unfortunate that the Court did not take the opportunity to uphold California’s Proposition 8 but instead decided not to rule on the matter. The common good of all, especially our children, depends upon a society that strives to uphold the truth of marriage. Now is the time to redouble our efforts in witness to this truth. These decisions are part of a public debate of great consequence. The future of marriage and the well-being of our society hang in the balance.
“Marriage is the only institution that brings together a man and a woman for life, providing any child who comes from their union with the secure foundation of a mother and a father.
“Our culture has taken for granted for far too long what human nature, experience, common sense, and God’s wise design all confirm: the difference between a man and a woman matters, and the difference between a mom and a dad matters. While the culture has failed in many ways to be marriage-strengthening, this is no reason to give up. Now is the time to strengthen marriage, not redefine it.
“When Jesus taught about the meaning of marriage – the lifelong, exclusive union of husband and wife – he pointed back to “the beginning” of God’s creation of the human person as male and female (see Matthew 19). In the face of the customs and laws of his time, Jesus taught an unpopular truth that everyone could understand. The truth of marriage endures, and we will continue to boldly proclaim it with confidence and charity.
“Now that the Supreme Court has issued its decisions, with renewed purpose we call upon all of our leaders and the people of this good nation to stand steadfastly together in promoting and defending the unique meaning of marriage: one man, one woman, for life. We also ask for prayers as the Court’s decisions are reviewed and their implications further clarified.”

Ron Paul on The Death of Daniel Somers

I am reading the heartbreaking suicide note of Daniel Somers, a US combat veteran who spent several years fighting in Iraq. Mr. Somers was only 30 years old when he took his own life, after being tormented by the horrific memories of what he experienced in Iraq.  He wrote:
“The simple truth is this: During my first deployment, I was made to participate in things, the enormity of which is hard to describe. War crimes, crimes against humanity. Though I did not participate willingly, and made what I thought was my best effort to stop these events, there are some things that a person simply can not come back from.”
Many who shout the loudest that we must “support the troops” urge sending them off to unwinnable and undeclared wars in which there is no legitimate US interest. The US military has been abused by those who see military force as a first resort rather than the last resort and only in self-defense. This abuse has resulted in a generation of American veterans facing a life sentence in the prison of tortured and deeply damaged minds as well as broken bodies.
The numbers sadly tell the story: more military suicides than combat deaths in 2012, some 22 military veterans take their lives every day, nearly 30 percent of veterans treated by the VA have PTSD.
We should be saddened but not shocked when we see the broken men and women return from battles overseas. We should be angry with those who send them to suffer and die in unnecessary wars. We should be angry with those who send them to kill so many people overseas for no purpose whatsoever. We should be afraid of the consequences of such a foolish and dangerous foreign policy. We should demand an end to the abuse of military members and a return to a foreign policy that promotes peace and prosperity instead of war and poverty.

The Vigilant Christian

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..."  Hosea 4:6

Now that you know what I've been telling you is true--that the government really is watching everything we do, as confirmed in all recent headlines--this seems like a good time to offer this resource.  David J. Dionisi is a former U.S. Army intelligence officer and was also a successful Wall Street investment executive.  He is a Catholic Christian, the founder of Teach Peace Foundation, and you can read more of his story at that site.  You can read the first book in his series of Vigilant Christian books here: Vigilant Christian I: The New World Order.  Thoroughly documented, this eye-opening book demonstrates that the motivation of the global elite, to whom our government ultimately answers, is not money but a Luciferian-style religion.

GM Food Off the Menu in UK Parliament's Restaurants/Cafeterias; Owen Paterson's Claims Proved Bogus

From GM Watch via the Daily Mail:
This week the British food and farming secretary, Owen Paterson, launched an extraordinary propaganda campaign to encourage the nation to accept GM crops and farming. However, his efforts were unraveling today amid the revelation that GM food is banned from the dinner tables of MPs, while all his claims for the GM product "Golden Rice" proved to be false.
The House of Commons Catering service today confirmed that the ban on GM ingredients, which dates back to 1998, remains in place as a matter of "customer choice".

Another Cancer Tale

My wife, Jan, and I just returned from a week in Phoenix.  We helped Jan's aunt, widowed and childless, move into a 24-hour skilled care group home.  The aunt has dementia and is completely bedridden.  Jan has power of attorney and set up the automatic deductions to pay the aunt's bills so she can hopefully live out the rest of her life in relative peace.
Why do I share this story with you?  Her aunt is only 63 years old.  A little over one year ago, her aunt began radiation treatment for a brain tumor.  The treatment cured the cancer and permanently damaged her brain.  The swelling from the scars on her brain will continue until it kills her.
If you or a family member or a friend ever find yourself facing a similar diagnosis, which is very likely given the typical American diet and lifestyle, I encourage you to not go into panic mode.  Most doctors will tell you that you must begin the cut, poison, burn regimen immediately.  That advice is almost never true, and can in fact begin a process that will reduce your quality of life and then kill you more quickly than the cancer.

God Can Take a Punch

From Joel J. Miller at Patheos:
An Egyptian court last week sentenced an author to five years in prison.  His crime?  Insulting religion.  He penned a book entitled Where Is God? which some Muslims deemed offensive.
Egyptian law "gives all Muslims the right to file lawsuits in cases where the exalted right of God has been violated."  But maybe God can take it.  That's what Ian Punnett argues in his new book How to Pray When You're Pissed at God, a title that might spark similar offense in some quarters.
     But should it?

86 Civil Liberty Groups and Companies Demand an End to NSA Spying/Sign Ron Paul's Petition Here

Today, a bipartisan coalition of 86 civil liberties organizations and Internet companies – including the Electronic Frontier Foundation, reddit, Mozilla, FreedomWorks, and the American Civil Liberties Union – are demanding swift action from Congress in light of the recent revelations about unchecked domestic surveillance.
In an open letter to lawmakers sent today, the groups call for a congressional investigatory committee, similar to the Church Committee of the 1970s. The letter also demands legal reforms to rein in domestic spying and demands that public officials responsible for this illegal surveillance are held accountable for their actions.  Read the letter here.

From Ron Paul's email: For decades, I've been warning about the dangers of U.S. government surveillance programs being used against American citizens.
Of course, snoop-state insiders laughed at me every time I raised concerns about allowing the federal government to read the emails, monitor the online activity, and seize the phone records of Americans without obtaining a warrant.
But no one is laughing now . . .

Sign a petition to Congress demanding a stop to the spying and, in particular, to the federal government's next step, creating a national ID card. Imagine a card that contains your  biometric information combined with with the NSA information.  Congress is actually voting on it next week!
     Read more about it here.

Corporations Already Own 20% of Your Genes

The Supreme Court is set to make a landmark decision this month, a ruling that affects us all and will essentially determine ‘who owns’ the human genome. The case concerns the patenting of genes. Human genes. And though the issue is now front and center, it is far from new. As a matter of fact, over the past 30 years more than 40,000 gene patents have been created and accepted. Around 20% of your genes are actually patented by major corporations and universities.

BreakPoint This Week: The Unseen World of Angels and Demons

"Enemy-occupied territory—that is what this world is," wrote C. S. Lewis in "Mere Christianity." "Christianity is the story of how the rightful king has landed, you might say landed in disguise, and is calling us all to take part in a great campaign of sabotage. When you go to church you are really listening-in to the secret wireless from our friends: that is why the enemy is so anxious to prevent us from going. He does it by playing on our conceit and laziness and intellectual snobbery. I know someone will ask me, 'Do you really mean, at this time of day, to reintroduce our old friend the devil—hoofs and horns and all?' Well, what the time of day has to do with it I do not know. And I am not particular about the hoofs and horns. But in other respects my answer is 'Yes, I do.'"
John Stonestreet interviews Dr. Cornelius Plantinga and Joel Miller to discuss Satan, angels, demons and the unseen world. Takes about 25 minutes to listen; extremely relevant to current events!

NSA Communications Gathering Begins and Ends with Americans, Not Foreigners

The original purpose of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978, which was broadened after the September 11th, 2001 attacks, was to identify foreign terrorists.  Why are the FBI and NSA under President Obama spying only on Americans in the United States?  I suggest that we have conclusive evidence that the "War on Terror" is not about stopping foreign terrorist threats.  It is a winning and convenient scheme to expand federal control over U.S. citizens.  Andy Greenberg at Forbes comes as close as we can hope to admitting the truth of our situation via a corporately owned medium in his articleNSA's Verizon Spying Order Specifically Targeted Americans, Not Foreigners.  It's a very encouraging sign!

Yet Another "Conspiracy Theory" Proved Factual: NSA and FBI Collect Your Phone Calls

Back on May 4th I posted this article, "No Longer a "Conspiracy Theory:" All Telephone Calls/Emails/Texts Recorded by NSA.  I realize it takes awhile to go through the process of accepting that the United States is no longer a constitutional republic and that our government does not work for us.  Hopefully, we are finally emerging from the denial phase.  Facts that were previously dismissed as "conspiracy theories" are finally finding mainstream acceptance, as evidenced by the following list of articles in today's news outlets: NYTimes: U.S. Secretly Collecting Records, Report: Gov't. Scooping Up Phone Records, Obama Admin. Defends Massive Phone Record Collection, Forbes: NSA Specifically Target Americans Not Foreigners, CBS: Homeland Security Can Search Based on 'Hunch', NSA Spying is Bigger Than Verizon, and The Guardian: NSA Collecting Phone Records of Millions.
I can't wait for people to move past denying that our federal government is enthralled to transnational corporations and multinational banks and begin to get angry enough to get involved!

The Next "Conspiracy Theory" That Will Prove True: Trans-Pacific Partnership Treaty

Did you know that Barack Obama has been secretly negotiating the most important trade agreement since the formation of the World Trade Organization?  Did you know that this agreement will impose very strict Internet copyright rules, ban all "Buy American" laws, give Wall Street banks much more freedom to trade risky derivatives and force even more domestic manufacturing offshore?
If you have not heard about this treaty, don't feel bad. Obama has refused to even give Congress a copy of the draft agreement and he has banned members of Congress from attending the negotiations. The plan is to keep this treaty secret until the very last minute and then to railroad it through Congress and have it signed into law by October.
The treaty is known as "the Trans-Pacific Partnership", and the nations that are reported to be involved in the development of this treaty include the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Peru, Brunei, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia.  Opponents of this treaty refer to it as "the NAFTA of the Pacific", and if it is enacted it will push the deindustrialization of America into overdrive.
Although Congress has exclusive constitutional authority to set the terms of trade, so far the executive branch has managed to resist repeated requests by members of Congress to see the text of the draft agreement and has denied requests from members to attend negotiations as observers. There is one exception to this wall of secrecy: a group of some 600 trade “advisers,” dominated by representatives of big businesses, who enjoy privileged access to draft texts and negotiators.
Read the New York Times article here and an excellent summary of the situation here.

We Are Making a Difference: Monsanto Tipping Point May Have Been Reached

Time to recharge...briefly!  This news recap should help restore or confirm your faith in humanity and the natural law.  While the mainstream corporate media pretends nothing is happening, grassroots activism and education is making a difference.  As Mike Adams writes:

Monsanto is now in full retreat against a global grassroots rejection of its poisons and lies. The company is backpedaling on every front now, even admitting defeat in Europe and now trying to focus its last, desperate efforts on the United States and Brazil.
But even in the Americas, Monsanto is losing on every front: GMO labeling legislation is cropping up in over a dozen states, the global March Against Monsanto demonstrated global grassroots unity against GMOs, and even the so-called "science" behind the "safety" GMOs is revealed as utter hogwash now that GMOs have escaped Monsanto's experimental wheat fields and contaminated commercial wheat crops in America.
Japan has halted U.S. wheat imports and South Korea joined in as well. Ben & Jerry's ice cream company has announced it is going 100% GMO-free, and massive boycotts are under way against brands that tried to block the GMO labeling ballot measure in California (Prop 37).
Enjoy the videos also.  Note that it takes over 20 minutes to recite alphabetically the names of the cities across the globe where residents joined the "March Against Monsanto!"

U.S. Supreme Court Rules Police Can Take Your DNA

A sharply divided Supreme Court on Monday said police can routinely take DNA from people they arrest, equating a DNA cheek swab to other common jailhouse procedures like fingerprinting.
"Taking and analyzing a cheek swab of the arrestee DNA is, like fingerprinting and photographing, a legitimate police booking procedure that is reasonable under the Fourth Amendment," Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the court's five-justice majority.
But the four dissenting justices said that the court was allowing a major change in police powers.
"Make no mistake about it: because of today's decision, your DNA can be taken and entered into a national database if you are ever arrested, rightly or wrongly, and for whatever reason," conservative Justice Antonin Scalia said in a sharp dissent which he read aloud in the courtroom.
Getting DNA swabs from criminals is common. All 50 states and the federal government take cheek swabs from convicted criminals to check against federal and state databanks, with the court's blessing. The fight at the Supreme Court was over whether that DNA collection could come before conviction and without a judge issuing a warrant.

The Reason We Endure Trials

From Joel J. Miller at Patheos' Evangelical Portal:
"The other day my son was going on about bricks. He had seen a documentary and was eager to report that firing bricks in a kiln made a stronger product than merely drying them in the sun.
"My mind jumped to a stretch I spent in Uganda. Megan and I saw giant stacks of bricks along the roadside most everywhere we drove. To make them locals molded sloppy wet clay and set the shapes out to dry. Next they arranged a large makeshift kiln from the dry bricks, crammed it with wood, and set the fuel on fire. Once the bricks had cooled, the kiln was dismantled and the bricks were ready for use.
"The fire hardens the clay and makes the brick more durable. Unfired clay makes weaker bricks.
     "It’s the same with us."
