US Supreme Court Hands Monsanto Dominion Over Family and Organic Farmers

     Americans barely noticed as the US Supreme Court moved us yet another giant step closer to fascism. The court upheld Monsanto's right to sue farmers for damages and infringement if and when Monsanto's GM seeds inadvertently contaminate the non-GM farmers fields!  In short, the court ruled that the non-GM farmers case, seeking protection from Monsanto's predatory lawsuits, was unnecessary since Monsanto, the court claimed, has promised not to sue in such cases.  In reality, Monsanto has already filed at least 140 lawsuits against farmers whose crops were contaminated by Monsanto's seeds and settled out of court more than 700 times!

UPDATE 1/14/14:  Huffington Post reposted Bartolotto's article as the lead story at  their "Food for Thought" section, in order to increase its exposure and make amends.  However, by the end of the business day, the article was moved to the side bar.
UPDATE 1/13/14:  Carole Bartolotto received an apology from a weekday "moderator" at the Huffington Post. Apparently, the weekend "moderator" was unabashedly pro-GMO!  They are now publishing most comments, including several responses from Carole pointing out the flaws of the critical comments. Take another look at the article, "The Anti-Science Behavior of GMO Proponents", to read her use of facts in rebutting claims in the comments box!

 As of this writing, the comments editor at the Huffington Post is blocking comments supportive of Carole Bartolotto's article and negative comments about GMOs!!!  Members of GMOFreeUSA first noticed this censorship; several members tested the situation by writing pro-GMO comments, which were immediately posted, while their anti-GMO comments were not posted.  When they submitted a request for an explanation, they received this reply:

We appreciate your patience while we work to fulfill your request.

     When another member tried to post a link in the comments section to a GM Watch article article by Prof. David Schubert of the Salk Institute in which he condemns the retraction of the Seralini study and voices his own concerns about GMOs, she received this reply:
"Due to the potentially sensitive nature of this article, your comment may take longer to appear publicly."  They have still not posted it, and actually banned this person from further comments!
     By posting an article critical of GM methods but then only allowing comments that ridicule the article and anti-GMO positions, corporate media keeps the illusion of presenting both sides of the issue.

The Anti-Science Behavior of GMO Proponents

     "As the battle to label GMOs (genetically modified organisms) rages on, we have another more insidious battle taking place. It's the battle to hold on to scientific integrity, especially as it relates to research about GMOs...
     "The Seralini study was criticized for having a complex design, using too few rats in each group, and for the type of rat used. In November 2013, the study was retracted from the journal. What was the reason for the retraction? The journal's editor, Dr. A. Wallace Hayes, said the research was not conclusive.
     "Um, what? The typical reasons for retraction include unreliable findings due to misconduct or honest error, plagiarism, redundancy, or unethical research, none of which applies in this situation. Dr. Michael Hansen of the Consumers Union said, "The study was a follow-up to Monsanto's 90-day feeding study on its NK603 corn." So why is this protocol OK for Monsanto but not for Seralini? And was this retraction related to FCT's addition of a new associate editor of biotechnology, Richard E. Goodman, who previously was a scientist at Monsanto?
      "Controversy is common in the field of science. What normally happens is that controversial research would be clarified as new research articles are published, without the need for a retraction. A case in point is the research related to the low-carb diet, yet another polarized and contentious issue...
     "Emily Waltz's article "Battlefield" highlights a disturbing trend: If you publish negative research about GMOs, you will be harassed, attacked, and discredited."

Are Our Poiticians/Rulers Really That Stupid? Or Are They Evil?

     Apparently, many people have no problem with recognizing the “stupid” part of Obama, Bush, et al (although Brian Wilson's article "Solving Stupid" re-posted here emphasizes Obama). But acknowledging that the Rulers are evil is more difficult. We simply don’t want to believe that our Rulers are actually “evil.” But they are.  People need to face the reality of who our Rulers are.  As Wilson points out:
    
     One doesn’t have to doff his Tin Foil fedora to be aware of the multitude of incalculable inconsistencies and odds-busting benefits that have miraculously fallen to such a stupendous advantage in Obama’s life story. Like a recessive gene, Stupid rarely works out to anyone’s consistent, long term advantage, i.e. you may be able to do algorithms in your head but your fly is open and your socks don’t match.
     When considering the preponderance of Barry’s bodacious background, why is it so difficult to see the past, present and future intent of an individual with such a solid Marxist upbringing? When considering his 5+ years of “accomplishments”, not just from a legislative perspective, but his speeches, racism, class warfare, in-your-face taxpayer-paid “vacations”, snubs of a multitude of uniquely American ideals by omission or commission, from his perpetual lemon-sucking facial expressions to the infamous “Mussolini pose”, how can Stupid Dumbo trump the distinct pattern of evil intent? Hubris? Sure. Egomaniacal? Of course. Narcissistic? Without question. But Stupid?
      ...If you don’t buy the calculus above, if as the aforementioned newsletter publisher, you see presidential criticism as racially-tinged ad homonyms, take this simple test: Using facts and reason – rather than prejudice and adrenalin – disprove the obvious.

Cheerios Drops Genetically Modified Ingredients

     As I have mentioned before, Proposition 37 was only the first battle in the war for food security.  Even after having been outspent by some $45,000,000 (yes, that's 45 million dollars...and they argued that labeling would be too expensive!) in California alone, the national grass roots movement for non-GMO food is still alive, well, and actually growing!  General Mills announced this week that their original Cheerios cereal is now completely free of GMOs.  The announcement must be a painful one for the corporate world to make; see it here: Cheerios Drops Genetically Modified Ingredients.
